Junior Classical League Creed

We, the members of the Junior Classical League, covenant to hand on the torch of classical civilization in the modern world.

We believe an acquaintance with the civilization of Greece and Rome will help us understand and appraise this world of today,
Which is indebted to the ancient civilization in its government and laws, literature, language, and arts.

We affirm the JCL experience develops responsibility, fosters brotherhood, promotes enthusiasm, encourages competition, inspires dedication, and enriches our total growth.

Running for Chapter Office

We need members of RJCL to step up and lead our chapter! There are only two ways we can show the rest of the state that we rule: 1) have engaged, supportive, and enthusiastic members; and 2) have engaged, supportive, and enthusiastic officers! RJCL offices include the president, vice president, secretary, webmaster, and historian. They all have unique and amazing duties and can only be accomplished by the best Latin students, like you! We elect our new officers in the month of April, so please fill out the application and have it turned into the sponsor by March 31! To learn more about what officers do and how to become on, visit the "Officers" page or click here.

National Convention

If the NJCL National Convention experience had to be summed up in a few words, those words would be “State Convention on steroids.” This convention is six days of pure excitement with your delegation and other JCL’ers just as passionate about Latin as you. You get to compete in friendly competition with classics students from across the nation. The Indiana Junior Classical League delegation stops at all sorts of fun places along the way from amusement parks to malls and even cranberry farms! National Convention is a truly amazing experience, and you are sure to develop friendships that, like the classics, can weather the ages. The National Convention will be held in Alabama this year at Troy University.

Reitz JCL Sponsor:
Magistra Alldredge

Picture
Magistra Alldredge stood up when Latin was almost taken away from the students of Reitz. A former JCLer and Latin student herself, she was granted a state of emergency teaching license to continue Latin while she obtain her degree in the classical language. She inspires her amazing students day in and day out to truly live by the JCL creed.

Reitz JCL State Officer:
Justinian Erdmier

Picture
Justinian was encouraged to take Latin by Magistra Alldredge at the end of his sophomore year due to graduation requirements. Shortly after being introduced to the classics, Justinian fell in JCL Love. He wanted to give back to this newly found home the best way he knew how. When state convention rolled around, he ran for the office of parliamentarian and won. He now loves emerging himself in the JCL cliques and getting to know potential candidates, and memorizing the constitution.
